"Zinc is a trace element essential for cells of the immune system..."
We are told minerals are good for us but do we know why we need them?
We are told that Calcium is good for bones.
Magnesium is also good for bones but we never hear that. Much of the magnesium in our body is stored in our bones.
Magnesium is known as the great relaxer. As many of us eat few green, leafy vegetables, we get little magnesium into our body. Magnesium eases anxiety, cramps, insomnia and lots more.
Sodium is needed in the body but too much can make us ill. It is connected to the water balance in the body and the kidneys. Generally we have too much salt when we eat a of processed food. Salt is included in canned food and processed food as it helps preserve the food. People with Postural orthostatic tachycardia syndrome (POTS) and Adrenal Fatigue (AF) need a lot more salt than most people.
Zinc is known for its benefit to the immune system. Another important way zinc is used in the body is connected to our breathing.
A single atom of zinc is held in place by three amino acids inside an enzyme - carbonic anhydrase, which is one of the fastest enzyme known. It can process over 600,000 carbon dioxide (CO2) molecules every second. It works with haemoglobin which takes oxygen to the cells.
Hemoglobin is the protein molecule in red blood cells that carries oxygen from the lungs to the body's tissues and returns carbon dioxide from the tissues back to the lungs.
Oxygen - Carbon Dioxide Connection
When the hemoglobin releases oxygen, this enzyme grabs the carbon dioxide. It travels back to the lung and releases it. Each enzyme lasts about 3 months then needs to be replaced.
When people are ill with chronic illnesses, oxygen can get low in the body. Is it a far stretch to say they need more zinc? Zinc may help replenish the carbonic anhydrous enzyme that is so helpful in the transfer of oxygen and carbon dioxide.

N-acetyl cysteine (NAC) is one of my favourite supplements. It is a precursor to glutathione which is one of the major antioxidants in the body. Antioxidants get rid of free radicals in our body. We all have them. There is no getting away from them. Free radicals are caused by our cells oxidizing. Oxidizing means the cells are subjected to oxygen, just like a bit of old metal going rusty.
Scientists have discovered from research that Inflammation in our body is the major cause of many or all illnesses. Inflammation comes about by lots of little free radicals causing damage in our body.
NAC helps to stop this damage. It has been used for many illnesses, from lung congestion, to sinusitis, to depression. Now it has been found to aid in fertility.
120 infertile men took part in a study using NAC. Some took a placebo which means it is a dummy tablet like a sugar pill. Fertility in the men taking the NAC increased in 3 months.
In another study of 468 infertile men taking NAC and selenium for 26 weeks, sperm count and concentration increased.
NAC works on the mucous in the body. By breaking down the mucous in the reproductive tract, it makes it easier for the sperm to move through the vaginal tract.
More oxidative stress occurs during the first three months of a pregnancy and may be the reason of an inability of the woman to remain pregnant during the first trimester. It was found that NAC and folic acid made a difference, helping the mother to remain pregnant and not lose the baby.
This article was written by Dr Isaac Golden, a world authority on immunisation using Homeopathy. Immunisation using Homeopathy is called homoeoprophylaxis (HP)
'.... to answer 2 questions asking about my qualifications (which are easily googled) and experience (also easily found). I have a PhD from Swinburne University, and I have been working in this area for over 30 years.
But the key point is this - research published in orthodox journals shows
(1) many vaccinated and unvaccinated children who get whooping cough pick it up from parents and older siblings (most of whom are vaccinated)
(2) the acellular w/cough vaccine has been shown to take longer to pass through the body's systems, and has been shown to spread the disease more easily than the previous whole cell vaccine
(3) vaccinated people can pass on infectious diseases to others (vaccinated or not).
So the supposed real purpose, to protect people who cannot be vaccinated due to medical reasons - is a sham - they can be infected by vaccinated people of all ages, as well as by unvaccinated people. If you don't believe me, do some research.
Let me make my position clear: I support immunisation against the most potentially serious infectious diseases. But there is more than one way to immunise a person - vaccination is one way, and homoeoprophylaxis (HP) is another. I have patients who vaccinate and they have my full support, as they should.
I believe parents should be free to choose the method they prefer. HP is used by some governments around the world, administered by orthodox doctors and scientists, in literally millions of people. Anyone who says there is no evidence is simply ignorant. If you study the evidence you can disagree with it, just like we can with material from the drug companies, but the choice is real.
I am not anti-vaccination - I am simply against ignorant people who abuse sincere parents who are doing what they believe, on the basis of research, to be the best for their children.
Dr Isaac Golden was my Homeopathy lecturer for many years. At that time he had done a study of Homeoprophylaxis lasting for 25yrs.

Symptoms of Illness
Think how symptoms can relate to your illness. Your group of symptoms for an illness will be different from someone else's group of symptoms for a similar illness. Illness have been grouped together generally and given a name to help doctors and the general population have an idea of the major symptoms they are dealing with. Read more...
Researchers doctors have found in recent years that Inflammation is the main cause of much ill health. The food we eat and the stress we have in our lives all makes us vulnerable. If you have ever cut your finger or hit your knee or broken your skin, you know the redness that accompanies healing. Any sort of illness, whether it is major, like diabetes, cancer, chronic fatigue, fibromyalgia, arthritis or an inflamed gallbladder giving you pain, is all about inflammation.
Doctors can recommend pain killers for the pain that goes with inflammation, but let's face it, too many painkillers and be killers. Thousands of people die each year in the US alone just because they have taken too many painkillers.
Researchers have been working on other ways to stop inflammation.
When we cook, we often give extra flavor to our food with spices. Spices are known to contain lots of antioxidants. These antioxidants kill off free radicals, the little blighters that oxidize fats in our body. When the fats, or lipids as they are also called, are oxidized they cause havoc in our body, creating inflammation.
Some clever researchers decided to test some common spices, using them at the rate we would use them in our cooking.
Watch this short, perky video to find out which spices will help you the most.
By using these spices every day, you could save lots of money on expensive medication for inflammation.

It is important to clean hands if we have poor health, for whatever reason. Hands are used for everything, from washing, to dressing, to eating, to working. Along the way, they collect germs from all sorts of places.
When we are unwell, whether we have a cold or cancer or Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (CFS), we have more germs on our hands. We pick up the germs of others through handshakes, taps in wash basins or handrails on an elevator.
In Hong Kong, there were ladies whose job it was to clean the handrails at railway stations to try to stop cross contamination so that people would not get ill. Cutting down on germs is important to staying healthy.
When we are very ill and in bed, we are not continually washing our hands. It is enough to get to the bathroom occasionally. A quick rinse under the tap and quickly back to bed. Germs build up on our hands.
Generally speaking, I find women better at keeping their hands clean. They wash their hands when doing the washing up. Women may give their hands a good wash in the bathroom. They also spend some time in the laundry doing the washing. There is always a job needing to be done with water.
Men on the other hand, tend not to do these mundane chores and are not as aware of keeping their hands clean. Men should always give their hands a good wash after going to the toilet, a proper wash.
Washing the Hair
When we wash our hair, our hands get a good clean. However many people do not wash their hair every day. Also many men do not have hair to wash. So it is very important to wash your hands every day. If you do it in the shower you can give a good scrub all the way up the forearm as well. Keep those germs at bay.
Men tend to shake hands, a good way to pass on some germs. Women tend not to shake hands so much.
In a hospital where their premature babies were cared for the babies kept getting infections. It was traced down to the nurses having long fingernails. All sorts of bugs, grease and dirt can congregate under long nails. So give your nails a trim and then a good wash.
As people age, they tend to be less active. They also tend not to do the amount of washing up or cleaning of younger years. When they sit around their hands collect body oils and food scraps which can store quite happily under their fingernails. They also tend not to wash their hands so often. Please help the elderly to keep their hands clean. It is good for their health.
Please wash your hands properly and frequently.
Here are some very important supplements that we should all take as we age.
These days people do not feel as old when they get to 50 or 60 or even 70. Many people live a healthy life, especially here in Australia. Most of us are lucky to have enough money for food and the basic necessities of life.
However, it doesn't change the fact that people are still dying of heart attacks, atherosclerosis, stroke and complications of diabetes.
These illnesses do not suddenly appear when we get to 60 or 70 years old. They have been progressing silently in our body for decades. I, for one, would rather be proactive in my health rather than wait for a major health issue to catch me out.
Doctors performed autopsies on young soldiers who died in wars. They were about 20-22 years old. Doctors found that they all were affected with the beginnings of atherosclerosis, blocking of the arteries. When our arteries are blocked, blood does not get to the heart or brain. Then we experience a heart attack or stroke.
It shows from this that we must start early in our life if we want to have a healthy old age.
There are some very important supplements we should all be taking to benefit our body. We only have one body and if that is too ill to last another 10 years, we cannot trade it in and get another.
The following supplements are a MUST.
Magnesium is a mineral which helps us to relax. It helps the muscles in the body, the arteries and the mind relax.
Take 400-800mg daily.
Fish oil is important because it provides us with the special fatty acids we need for our body to work effectively. It is important for out brain and our heart, as well as the rest of us.
Take 1-2gm daily
N-acetyl cysteine, also called NAC for short. This is used by the body to make a major antioxidant in our body called glutathione. We cannot absorb glutathione if we take it. It is better to give the body the fuel it needs to make its own. It is needed in every cell, but especially heart, liver, brain and lungs.
Take 600-1200mh daily
Vitamin C has been recommended for many decades. It is a major antioxidant. It gets rid of free radicals. Free radicals are bad because they oxidize the cholesterol in out body. It is like going rusty. Vitamin C helps to prevent this and also regenerates Vitamin E and other antioxidants in our body. It is good if we get a cold.
Take 500-1500mg daily
Alpha lipoic acid is in every cell in our body. It is part of the supply of fuel needed in our mitochondria, the little factories that make energy to keep us going. No fuel, no energy.
Take 300mg daily
B vitamins are needed daily by our body. They help the brain and the nervous system. Some decades ago, many people had a disease called pellagra and were dying from it. It was found they were lacking in vitamin B.
Take a good multi B vitamin daily
CoQ10 is also needed in every cell in our body, just like alpha lipoic acid. It is supplies the mitochondria with the fuel to make energy. If you are taking statin drugs to control cholesterol, then it is imperative that you also take CoQ10. Statins rob our body of CoQ10. Muscles start to shrink. Your heart is a muscle. It can be affected by statins if it does not have enough CoQ10.
Take 100-300mg daily
High Cholesterol levels are said to be a high indicator for the risk of Cardiovascular Disease. Doctors are quick to prescribe Statin drugs to lower cholesterol. There are different varieties of these drugs. If one doesn't suit you because of the side effects, they will give you another, then another.
Once you are on the statin drug, you will be on it the rest of your life.
Drug companies are very happy to supply you, at your cost.
Recognised Side Effects of Statin Drugs
The Mayo Clinic recognises that there can be many and varied side effects from statin drugs. Some of them are serious.
Muscle pain and damage
The most common statin side effect is muscle pain. This can be soreness, tiredness or weakness in your muscles. The pain varies from mild discomfort to severe. If taken over an extended time, it can affect the muscles of the heart. Liver and kidneys can be affected.
Some people taking a statin may develop nausea, gas, diarrhea or constipation after taking a statin. These side effects are rare.
Rash or Flushing
Some people may experience rash or flushing of the skin.
Increased blood sugar or type 2 diabetes
It's possible your blood sugar (blood glucose) level may increase when you take a statin, which may lead to developing type 2 diabetes. The risk is small but important enough that the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has issued a warning on statin labels regarding blood glucose levels and diabetes.
Neurological side effects
The FDA warns on statin labels that some people have developed memory loss or confusion while taking statins.
Who is more at risk?
Risk factors include:
Coenzyme Q10, CoQ10 for short, is an important supplement that protects the muscles of the heart. If you are taking statin drugs, also take CoQ10. Studies show it will protect your heart.
We have a friend who had a heart problem. He was given statin drugs to lower his cholesterol. Ten years later he had lost the muscles in his legs. His heart muscle had also weakened dangerously. He was at great risk. Eventually, after visiting many doctors, en enlightened cardiologist put him on Co Q10. He is still alive after three years.
This short video tells you more about cholesterol.
Need more energy? Who doesn't! People who are ill need more energy. They just do not have enough energy to do the normal things in life. People needing more energy may have some of these illnesses
Every cell in our body has a job to do. They have to make energy to keep the body going. There are little furnaces within the cells called 'mitochondria'. The mitochondria need fuel to make energy. Without enough energy our body slows and starts to break down.
Co enzyme Q 10 (CoQ10) and D-ribose are the two ingredients that are essential for the mitochondria to make energy. If your supply of these is low, you will have low energy.
CoQ10 is needed in greater quantities in the heart. If you take statin drugs to reduce cholesterol, then you definitely need to supplement with CoQ10 as these drain CoQ10 from the cells.
Dose: 200-400mg CoQ10 daily.
D-ribose comes in the form of a white powder. It is only in recent years that scientists found how to make it. It is very safe to take.
Dose: 1 tsp powder 1-3 times daily
If you have CFS/ME and are very fatigued, take 3 doses daily for a 2-4 weeks. Cut back as you see fit.
These 2 natural supplements taken long term will give your mitochondria the fuel they need to make the energy your body needs.

How Many Colours in the Rainbow?
There are seven colours in the rainbow and a myriad of other variations of these colours.
Which is your favourite colour?
Colour has a major effect on our lives. We love some colours and hate others.
When I asked my granddaughters what colour they liked, they knew immediately which colour they preferred. They were three years old at the time.
Purple, they said.
A few months later it was Yellow.
Interestingly yellow is the opposite to purple on the colour wheel.
Colour is used in Light therapy to heal the body and the mind. It has been used and studied by top neuroscientists around the world.
Colourpuncture is a form of acupuncture, but using coloured lights instead of needles to affect the body. Different colours are used to bring about balance in the body. Coloured light can be used for physical or mental ailments.
Glasses with different colour in the lens can be used. Blue lenses in the morning get a person up and going. Orange lenses used for an hour before bedtime can help you settle. The orange in the lens cuts out the blue in light which keeps us awake.
Ladies and girls are at a distinct advantage in western society as they wear a myriad of colours in their clothes. When they look in their wardrobe many can see all the colours of the rainbow. We absorb colour from our clothing and the things around us.
Colour in Interior design and Architecture
On the television recently, Nick Knowles, an English Interior designer, said that in the future, when people look back to the different eras to see how we painted our homes, both inside and out, we will be known as The Grey Era. In the new housing estates here in southern Australia, dark grey, slate grey and greyish-browns abound. There is no colour anywhere.
I an expensive housing estate nearby, it was written in the contract the only colours you were allowed to paint your house or the colour of the bricks. A row of expensive units viewed from a distance looked distinctly like a gulag or prison.
On the other hand, we see how the Italians paint their houses in all colours of the rainbow, especially around the Mediterranean Sea.
I ask you to COLOUR YOUR LIFE and see the effect it has on you and your loved ones.
