Natural Remedies for Uterine Bleeding

Women with CFS, ME, CFIDS or Fibromyalgia may have many other things go wrong with their body. Heavy or prolonged bleeding during their periods is one of these.

Heavy Bleeding

As women get older they become less fertile and gradually go into peri-menopause and then into menopause. Menopause means that their monthly period or bleeding ceases. Peri-menopause can also be called pre-menopause.

At this time, some women have very heavy bleeding and/or prolonged bleeding. This is called Dysfunctional Uterine Bleeding or DUB by the medical community. It can also be called Menorrhagia meaning heavy menstrual bleeding.

Natural Remedies
Women with this dysfunction may be helped by Vitamin A and Zinc. Jacob Teitlebaum MD recommends high doses of vitamin A and 25mg of zinc daily for 3 months.

Taking a large dose of vitamin A regularly can be dangerous so take note of the fact that this is only to be taken for a 3 month period. It is best to be guided by your health care practitioner for this.

Vitamin A is fat soluble so does not wash out of your body like water-soluble vitamins C and C. Vitamin A is stored in the fat cells in our body. We all have fat cells no matter how skinny we are.

Other areas to be checked by your health care practitioner for heavy peri-menopausal bleeding are the thyroid and iron levels.

Iron
We have iron in our blood and need it to carry the oxygen around in our body. However we can have too much iron and this is dangerous, so don't go taking iron supplements without having a blood test to check your iron levels first.

Tissue Salts
One safe way to improve your iron levels is to take Ferr phos (Ferrous phosphate) in cell salt form. Cell salts can also be referred to as tissue salts or Schuessler salts after the doctor who discovered this method of healing.

These tissue salt tablets also come in a liquid form where they can be sprayed into the mouth. Depending on the brand, the tissue salts tablets are dissolved in your mouth, not chewed or swallowed whole. Swallow only after they have dissolved.

Homeopathic Remedies
There are many homeopathic remedies that may help with heavy menstrual bleeding. Some of the main ones are
  • Iodum
  • Phosphorus
  • Sabina
  • Cimicfuga

There are also many other remedies. Be guided by your Homeopath or Natural Therapist who will choose the right one for you.

I call Homeopathy the 'Designer medicine' because all of your symptoms are taken into account, not just the main symptom. Out of a room full of people with the same main problem, all of them have different accompanying symptoms. The homeopathic remedy you will be given will take all of your other symptoms into account.
