Many of these symptoms could be caused by other conditions, so it is important to see a doctor if you are concerned.
Where Does the Lead Contamination come from?
Lead can come from the workplace or hobbies. It can be freed during renovations of alo houses.
Lead was recently found in the soil of the natures strips of major arterial roadways of major cities in Australia. Walking along these paths or especially on the nature stips may contaminate the soles of your shoes. It is safest to remove your shoes before entering your own home. Your pets could also pick up contamination around this soil.
Early car fuel contained lead. It is interesting that the contamination of the
soil is along motorways.
Young children living in houses along main arterial roads in major cities are at risk of lead poisoning if they play in the soil in their backyards. Lead can stunt a childs mental growth.
Dust inside a house in these areas may also contain lead. Be extra careful of young children when living in these areas.
Lead affects the functioning of the brain. This makes learning difficult for affected children.
