I talked last time about the problem many people have with Candida or Thrush in their body. This is affected by yeast which is used to make bread rise and to ferment beer.
Sugar feeds yeast and so when we eat sugar we are feeding the yeast in our body. The problem with sugar in our diet is that a lot of our sugar is not added to our food where we can see it.
Sugar in Drinks
We see sugar and know how much there is when we have a cup of tea or coffee - 'Milk and one for me' or 'Coffee with two please' This is the sugar we see.
Then there were those couple of cans of soda or soft drink or cordial guzzled down to quell your thirst throughout the day - again, full of sugar.
Do you like coffee milk? with about 9 teaspoons of sugar in it, the Mars Bar, Cherry Ripe or chocolate you ate on your way home - all full of sugar.
But what about sugar in your hamburger bun, sugar in the biscuits you had for morning tea or in the birthday cake you scoffed at that party. The cake was yummy and sweet (sugar) and covered in pretty icing (icing sugar - pure sugar).
No, no, you say, I only eat healthy snacks - muesli bars - full of sugar, or fruit, nut and seed bars - all full of sugar in the syrup that hold them together. It's just like toffee.
How do you make toffee? Sugar and water and sometimes a bit of butter.
Well, I can hear some of you protesting that you just don't eat sweet things so you don't have sugar. Have you looked at the ingredients list on any of the food you eat lately?
Baked beans have sugar listed in the can. Spaghetti sauce also has sugar in it. Why don't you check out any other packaged or tinned food you use, and please remember to check out your breakfast food. Some of those foods are one third sugar and yet they still get the tick of approval by authorities as a good food. Whose kidding who?
Did you check out your yoghurt, fruit juice, sauce, peanut butter and donuts?
Remember that sugar affects diabetes and can affect the immune system.
