Biochemic salts are also called Tissue salts or Cell salts. They are not made of common salt.
'Cell Salts are a group of homeopathic remedies made from minerals.
How to take Biochemic salts
Biochemic salts have traditionally come in small white tablets that dissolve in the mouth. Biochemic salts, Tissue salts or Cell salts are placed in the mouth under the tongue and allowed to dissolve there. Do not chew or swallow them whole.
Recently they have been made available in a liquid spray form. This is sprayed under the tongue. Some biochemic remedies are also made up into a cream to be used on the skin where it is absorbed.
Why are Biochemic salts Placed under the Tongue?
The base of the mouth is rich in small blood vessels called capillaries. These are the finest blood vessels. When the biochemic salts are placed under the tongue they dissolve. This then is taken up by the capillaries and the energy taken into the body to be used where it is needed.
What is the Energy of Biochemic salts?
Biochemic salts or Tissue or Cell salts work on energy transfer. Our body is made up of energy and vibrations. These can travel quickly throughout the body. Biochemic salts carry the energy of the original substance. It is this energy that works so well in our body.
The soft molded lactose tablets are made to dissolve almost instantly when placed in the mouth. Because the remedies dissolve in the mouth, they are absorbed by the mucous membranes in the mouth and carried directly into your system. Because the remedies are absorbed directly into your system through your mouth, they work faster than conventional medicines because conventional medicines are usually coated and don't get absorbed into the system until the coating is dissolved by the stomach acid, and that generally takes about twenty minutes.
What can I use Biochemic Salts for?
Biochemic salts are a form of Homeopathy. They are readily available in Health Food shops. They can be used as the first remedy to try when a cough, cold or sore throat looms. They can ease headaches and cramps and an upset stomach.
What do Tissue salts Contain?
Biochemic salts are generaly made with lactose. They are gluten free. The liquid form of these homeopathic salts are free from lactose and artificial sweeteners.

Women with CFS, ME, CFIDS or Fibromyalgia may have many other things go wrong with their body. Heavy or prolonged bleeding during their periods is one of these.
As women get older they become less fertile and gradually go into peri-menopause and then into menopause. Menopause means that their monthly period or bleeding ceases. Peri-menopause can also be called pre-menopause.
At this time, some women have very heavy bleeding and/or prolonged bleeding. This is called Dysfunctional Uterine Bleeding or DUB by the medical community. It can also be called Menorrhagia meaning heavy menstrual bleeding.
Women with this dysfunction may be helped by Vitamin A and Zinc. Jacob Teitlebaum MD recommends high doses of vitamin A and 25mg of zinc daily for 3 months.
Taking a large dose of vitamin A regularly can be dangerous so take note of the fact that this is only to be taken for a 3 month period. It is best to be guided by your health care practitioner for this.
Vitamin A is fat soluble so does not wash out of your body like water-soluble vitamins C and C. Vitamin A is stored in the fat cells in our body. We all have fat cells no matter how skinny we are.
Other areas to be checked by your health care practitioner for heavy peri-menopausal bleeding are the thyroid and iron levels.
We have iron in our blood and need it to carry the oxygen around in our body. However we can have too much iron and this is dangerous, so don't go taking iron supplements without having a blood test to check your iron levels first.
One safe way to improve your iron levels is to take Ferr phos (Ferrous phosphate) in cell salt form. Cell salts can also be referred to as tissue salts or Schuessler salts after the doctor who discovered this method of healing.
These tissue salt tablets also come in a liquid form where they can be sprayed into the mouth. Depending on the brand, the tissue salts tablets are dissolved in your mouth, not chewed or swallowed whole. Swallow only after they have dissolved.
There are many homeopathic remedies that may help with heavy menstrual bleeding. Some of the main ones are
What we can do when our feet feel like this?
Feet and legs are very important to us. They move us from place to place. They take all our weight. They need to be strong to do this.
However many people have problems with these important parts of our body. Women often have aching, tired legs at the time of their periods. People who play strenuous sport sometimes hurt the muscles or joints in their legs.
But what can we do when our legs just hurt or ache or our feet are sore or we can't put them under the blankets at night?
Dry brushing entails using a brush with natural hairs and brushing your legs and feet. It stimulates the circulation in them and improves your skin. People who are allergic and have a weak immune system can benefit by this. These people tend to have dry, scaly skin. Dry brushing removes this dry scaly skin, stimulates the legs and feet and helps relieve the tension in them.
Having a warm soak in a bath that has Epsom salts added to it can ease the ache in the legs. Epsom salts is magnesium sulphate, also spelled magnesium sulfate. It can be purchased in the supermarket or health food store. Use half to one cup per bath. You absorb the magnesium sulphate through your skin. It is good for aching and tired legs. It stops spasms or cramps in the legs.
This is something that you can easily do for yourself. Find a massage oil that you like and massage it into your legs each day. Perhaps bedtime would be a good time to do it. Then your legs will be relaxed when you drift off to sleep. This helps with circulation for your legs. Massage the full length of your legs and remember your feet as well. They take all the weight of the day. Peppermint oil added to the massage oil id=s good for the feet. It is refreshing and cooling.
Tissue salts, also called Cell salts or Bio-chemic Salts can help tired legs. New Era Combination P is a combination of 4 different minerals needed in our body that can help tired and aching legs and feet.
There are different homeopathic remedies that can also help to ease those tired legs.
Chamomilla is good for burning in the soles of the feet. The person must put them out from the under the blankets at night, It can also ease restless legs when they jump about in the evenings or at night when in bed.
Graphites helps when the legs feel congested or tight and swollen when standing. It may also help shooting pains in the feet and soles of the feet. Feet can be cold or burning and have a smelly sweat.
Medorrhinum can also help with cold feet or burning feet. This person wants their feet fanned they are so hot.
Pulsatilla can have red hot feet that swell. This can extend up the leg into the calf and have a stinging pain.

Tissue salts are a safe, natural medicine
Tissue Salts or Cell Salts
Dr Schuessler, a medical doctor in Germany, promoted a new system of natural medicines in the early to mid 1800s. He believed that our body needed twelve tissue salts or cell salts. These were also sometimes called bio-chemic salts. The salts were needed by every cell in the body for the body to stay healthy. When something went wrong with the body, that is, it became ill, we were deficient in one or more of the salts. By providing it in minute doses, we could balance our body and bring it to health.
Tissue salts or cell salts are the basic chemical building blocks found in the body.
Because of the benefits tissue salts have given people, they are still a very popular form of alternative medicine 200 years later, a form of natural medicine that people can safely use for themselves.
Micro doses of minerals are quickly absorbed through the mouth and these stimulate the body’s natural healing responses. They can be used to treat fever, coughs and colds, teething, muscle cramps, sore throat, skin problems and much more.
Reasons Why Tissue Salts are so Popular
Tissue salts are still very popular because
The name salts does not mean that there is any table salt in the product. It is a way of getting the minerals into a substance that is readily absorbed by the body. The subtlety, harmlessness and effectiveness of these preparations have been clinically proven for well over two hundred years.
How to Take Tissue Salts
It is best not to touch the tablets. Tip the required number of tablets into the lid of the bottle and tip them into the mouth. Do not swallow them yet. Let them dissolve in the mouth then swallow. It is important to let them dissolve in the mouth. This is why the substances are in such fine micro doses.
The tablets are immediately absorbed through the saliva. The body does not need to break down the minerals and so they are readily available.
How much do I Take?
Illnesses can be acute or chronic. Acute illnesses come on, have a short life and the immune system of the body fights them off. Chronic illnesses last a long time, maybe months or years.
There are a few different brands of tissue salts. Be guided by how many tablets to take according to the brand. However, for acute illnesses, tablets can be taken every half an hour until relief is obtained. Usually no more than 6 doses daily. When relief comes, ease back to 3 or 4 doses daily until the illness is gone.
For chronic illness take 3 doses daily.
Different Names, Different Brands
Tissue salts are made by different companies. These include Martin & Pleasance, an Australian brand and New Era. New Era tablets melt in the mouth easily. Remember, when looking for these in the health food shop they can also be called Schuessler salts or Bio-chemic salts. All do the same thing - supply micro doses of minerals to the cells in the body.
Where to Buy Them
Tissue salts can be bought in health food stores. It is a good idea to have a range of these at home for when the children have a fever or sore throat, or you have a headache or aching and tired legs.
For serious problems always see a medical professional. These remedies are not meant to treat serious illnesses alone but you can combine them with prescription medicines.
Tissue Salts to the Rescue
Two Tissue salts that may help relieve asthma are Mag phos and Nat phos.
Mag phos (Magnesium phosphate) is one of the twelve essential minerals our bodies need. Mag phos eases spasms.
As mentioned in my last post about Magnesium, the bronchioles in the lungs, that is the airway passages in the lungs, go into spasms throughout an asthmatic episode. They become inflamed, go into spasms, and produce mucous trying to wash away the thing that is bothering them - it may be dust, smoke, terpenes or some other substance.
Directions for taking Mag phos
Mag phos may help to ease the spasms so that you can breathe more easily. If your chest is tightening up, try some Mag phos. Take it at the first sign of spasms. Get in early. Stop the spasms before they get really bad. Take every 15 minutes for an hour. As the spasms ease, slow down the tablets. Remember to take your prescription medicine if needed.
Nat phos or Natrum phosphoricum may also ease asthma. It may help if your asthma is brought on by mould or by exercise. Exercise can be as simple as walking or talking. Yes, talking can bring on breathelessness in some people. It is a form of exercise of the vocal muscles.
Running or walking may bring on an asthma attack in some people. It does not have to be fast walking, it can also be slow walking, depending on your own personal makeup.
Depending on the brand, take 1-4 tablets as needed. The tablets ahould not be touched. Shake the tablet into the top of the bottle and tip it into your mouth from there. DO NOT SWALLOW THE TABLET/S. Suck them. Let them dissolve in your mouth. These tablets are like Homeopathy. They have the energy of the salt in the tablet. This is absorbed into the channels of energy that circulate from your mouth to other parts of the body.
Do not take them with tea or coffee or food. They work best in a clean empty mouth.
The most important thing for you to do is to TAKE YOUR NORMAL MEDICATION FOR ASTHMA. Tissue salts are a companion natural medicine that may help your body along with doctor's prescriptions. Remember, asthma can be dangerous.Treat it with caution.
Tissue salts or Cell salts, as I have mentioned before, are very safe to take.
They can be purchased in the health food store or chemist.
We NEED Magnesium in our body.
Magnesium is an essential mineral that we need to keep our body healthy. There are a number of major minerals that we need and some minerals we need in only small amounts. These are called trace elements.
Major benefit from magnesium are:
It helps our heart, muscles and kidneys
It is a necessary component in the makeup of our bones helping to prevent osteoporosis
Magnesium helps to transmit nerve impulses
It is a good antispasmodic, that is, it helps prevent spasms in our body
It supports women during menopause and with PMS
Magnesium is a good antispasmodic. I have proven its benefits innumerable times for severe cramps in the legs. Taken as a homeopathic remedy it can bring quick relief.
It is also good taken this way for spasms of wheezing and asthma where the lungs constrict.
The best way to take any vitamin or mineral is as part of our food. This is why it is so important to eat well, especially with a variety of fruit and vegetables. Eating well does not mean eating a lot or eating expensive foods. It means selecting the food you need to benefit your body. Magnesium is found in nuts, especially almonds, in fish, whole grains and wheat germ and especially in dark green leafy vegetables.
Most people in our western society today do not eat enough good foods. It is so easy to eat a variety of bad foods which have little nutrient value for us. Therefore it is a good idea to take magnesium as a supplement. Scientists have worked out how much magnesium each person needs. it is decided by their body weight.
Mag phos Tissue Salts
Other ways to take extra magnesium are by Cell Salts. These are also called Tissue Salts or Schuessler Cell Salts. These can be bought in the health food store. Magnesium Cell Salts, called Mag phos, are a safe and easy remedy to use for any spasms in the body eg sneezing, coughing, migraines, leg or stomach cramps, asthma. Mag phos Tissue Salts can be bought as a tablet that is sucked, a cream to rub onto the affected part or as an oral spray.
Do not stop taking any medication you are on for these illnesses. You can safely add Cell Salts as needed.
Homeopathic Mag phos is much stronger than Cell Salts. It can work very quickly to give great relief. It comes in different strengths or potencies. The lower strengths can sometimes be bought in a pharmacy or health food store. For higher strengths or potencies you need to contact your Homeopath or Naturaopath. Mag phos can be effective if the affected part is better from warmth. This means is a cramp better from a warm compress, or asthma better in warm air. If it is better from cold then homeopathic Mag phos will not work for you.
Mag phos is one of my all time favourite remedies.
