Dr Jacob Teitelbaum has written books on Fibromyalgia and Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (CFS) and specialises in these illnesses. He runs the Fatigue Practitioners Network and lives in Hawaii.
Jacob Teitelbaum had CFS/Fibromyalgia and spent more than 39 years studying it.

A low thyroid is a common trigger for Fibromyalgia. Difficulty sleeping is a common symptom of fibromyalgia. There is also a loss of digestive enzymes, and food allergies. Dr Teitelbaum feels that everybody who has fibromyalgia should try taking thyroxine. 95% of people who do, improve.
Symptoms of CFS/Fibromyalgia are being excessively tired, achy, have weight gain, brain fog and insomnia. If you cannot sleep and have these other symptoms you may have fibromyalgia.
If your ferritonin level is under 60, you cannot process T4.
Take selenium 60-200 mcg daily.
The most important thing is how you feel. Low thyroid levels need more than 35 mcg of selenium. He says the T3 and T4 tests are unreliable. Don’t rely on blood rests. It is more important how you feel. He feels Nature-Throid and Westthroid are the best medicines for the thyroid. If you have high T4, you are at risk of getting osteoporosis.
This is the best at strengthening bones if you have osteoporosis.
Don’t take more than 120mcg a day other than rare exceptions. If you have been on it a while and still not feeling good, reduce your thyroxine. Those with CFS/Fibromyalgia need more T3.
T4 is the storage form of the hormone. The cell push off iodine, creating T3. T3 gets the body moving. If you take T3, divide the doses throughput the day. With T4, take it all at once.
To induce sleep use lavender, an Epsom salts bath or a herbal mix. Take Ashwaganda and phosphatidylserine if you can’t sleep at bedtime. Eat a protein snack at bedtime if you get low blood sugar throughout the night, eg a boiled egg, or six nuts.
Take medications in low doses.
If you are sleeping in the day you may have sleep apnoea. If you have restless legs, you may have an iron or magnesium deficiency. For magnesium deficiency, take 200 ml of magnesium glycinate. If you are low in iron you may need ferritin. Levels need to be 60.
DO NOT LIMIT SALT. You need more salt if the adrenals are not working. Use unprocessed sea salt, Celtic salt, raw or pink or Hawaiian salt.
However do restrict sugar. Drink lots of water.
Take 1 scoop 3 times daily. For 3 weeks, then twice daily. It is a great energy booster and improves energy by 60%. Ribose looks and tastes like sugar. Add a teaspoonful to your hot or cold drinks. It helps ease pain.
Add vitamin B4 and phosphates
For low Adrenals with immediate hunger
If taking Prednisolone, taking 20+ mg will start to give adrenal suppression.
Low testosterone and low thyroid will help men.
If they are in bad pain, they will also be deficient in testosterone.
If you have Candida symptoms and you have fibromyalgia, you may also have post nasal drip, nasal congestion, irritable bowel syndrome, gas and bloating. Often the muscles get locked in a shortened position. You may also often get viral or antibiotic sensitive infections.
Cytomel is T3.
Air hunger is a classic sign of Lyme infection. Lyme infection is like a tick bite.
Take thyroid medication on an empty stomach. Wait 1 hour before eating. No coffee. Take at least 3-4 hours away from calcium or iron supplements. You can take them at night if needed. If taking T3, it may be better dividing the dose. If you crave coffee, it is an adrenal dysfunction.

Wheat is NOT an essential nutrient.
Diseases of inflammation are ulcerative colitis, Crohn’s disease, IBS etc.
symptoms of these are gluten sensitivity.
Alzheimer’s and autism regenerate after removing gluten from the body.
People with Attention Disorders (ADD), migraines, and ADHD have gluten sensitivity in the brain.
Coeliac, Type 1 Diabetes and thyroid disease are diseases which are brought on by gluten and autoimmunity.
If your test comes back positive, you have gluten sensitivity. If it comes back negative, you might still have gluten problems.
Beware of coffee.
43% of gluten sensitive people have immune reaction and inflammation in the gut. There is a correlation between Coeliac disease and Hashimoto’s.
Your TSH should be below 3.
If you have thyroid problems and gluten sensitivity you need 49% more medication to balance thyroid problems.
Go to the Coeliac support group to find a dietitian.
Children with Coeliac disease have a 3.2 times risk of early death from suicide. They need a lot of support.
It is best to go grain free as it reduces antibodies in your body.
People do respond to a gluten free and dairy free diet.
The lining in the intestines renews every 3-7 days. It heals itself.
If you are gluten sensitive and keep eating gluten, eventuality it will affect somewhere in your body and it will break down.
NOBODY can DIGEST GLUTEN. Gluten causes inflammation.
NF-Kappa B is highly elevated with gluten sensitivity.

Iodine has great healing benefits for the human body.
Iodine is found in fish and seaweeds from the ocean.
A couple of centuries ago the poorest of the poor people in England, Scotland and Ireland who lived near the sea relied on fish from the ocean for much of their food. People who were at starvation point ate seaweed that was washed up on the shore. Somehow these people survived on this food, with its nutrition from the sea.

The lack of Iodine is vast in our Western society. There are processes in the body that make use of certain elements. Once, iodine was the main element. These days it has been replaced by bromine, chlorine and fluoride. This means that we now have far less iodine in our body.
Iodine is essential for thethyroid gland.
The thyroid gland is in charge of the metabolism.

Iodine is also needed for the health of the breasts, ovaries and testicles.
Iodine is to be respected as it can affect the body greatly whether there is too much of it or too little.
People in Japan eat lots of fish and seaweed. They have much less cancer of the breast than women in the US. They also live to great ages in good health.

Recovering from Major Illness
Natural supplements are a great way to improve our health especially if we are or have been very unwell. The medical profession have difficulty in diagnosing some illnesses. My favourite supplement is N-Acetyl-Cysteine (NAC). This supplies the ingredients for our body to make glutathione, the major antioxidant in our body. Glutathione cannot be absorbed in our body if taken as a supplement therefore we need to give our body the basic ingredients to make it. NAC is very good for Depression or Bi Polar. Research studies have been done on this in Australia with positive results. Glutathione is found especially in the heart and the brain as well as all over the body.
Vitamin C is another important antioxidant. We have all heard of the importance of this for many years. We cannot make this vital vitamin in our body so must absorb it in our food or as a supplement. Most people will not get enough of this in their diet so supplementation in important. Vitamin C is found in the fluid in our eyes so to protect these important organs take some Vitamin C every day.
Minerals are the backbone of our body. We all know about Calcium and we know the names of many other minerals we need to keep us healthy. There is chloride, phosphorus, potassium and sodium. We also need iron and many trace elements. Trace elements are needed in very tiny quantities in our body, but we still need them.
What is the best way to get our minerals? By eating vegetables. The minerals have been absorbed by the roots of the vegetables and these are easily absorbed by our body.
Magnesium is my favourite mineral. It is wonderful to ease spasms. Spasms can manifest as cramps in the legs, period cramps, cramps in the gut in Irritable Bowel Syndrome or other bowel illnesses where the bowel goes into spasms. Magnesium also eases sneezing - a spasm, and coughing and asthma. It can help ease a migraine too. It also helps build our bones.
There are different ways to take magnesium.
