A lot of fatigue is connected to poor adrenal function. The adrenal glands sit above the kidneys and are part of the endocrine system. They produce several hormones to do with the stress response.
The adrenal gland consists of the cortex and the medulla. The cortex is the outer part and produces cortisol, a powerful anti inflammatory hormone. Inflammation occurs in many health problems eg allergies, asthma, arthritis and lupus.
The medulla is the centre part of the adrenal gland. It puts out adrenaline, (which is also called epinephrine), and norepinephrine. These hormones are almost a direct extension of the nervous system. They govern the body’s stress response, also known as the fight-or-flight response.
When the brain thinks there is a threat (stress),the adrenal glands prepare to either fight or flee. The nervous system stimulates the circulatory and respiratory systems to be ready. This diverts oxygen and blood away from normal bodily functions and accesses the body’s energy reserves.
When this system switches off, the body stays on alert for a long while afterwards. This exhausts the energy supplies and wears down the adrenal glands and kidneys, impairing immune function.
The body reacts to real and imaginary stressors. These can be emotional or psychological and can be caused by stress. This can be overuse of caffeine, alcohol, nicotine, drugs, poor nutrition or deficiencies of vitamins.
‘A person with weak or impaired adrenal function may have low blood pressure, low blood sugar, low body temperature and a feeling of complete exhaustion.’ Other health problems creep in such as hypoglycaemia and neuro-mediated hypotension (NMA). With NMA, the central nervous system instructs the heart to slow down, causing decline in total volume of blood circulating per minute, and in blood pressure. This allows the blood to pool in the lower limbs and less is available to nourish the brain. Other symptoms of poor adrenal function are depression, dizziness or lightheadedness and memory lapse.

Digestive enzymes aid digestion and assimilation of nutrients. Supplements cannot work unless the body is able to use them. Digestion and absorption are the keys to the effectiveness of supplements, and enzymes are the key to thorough digestion and absorption.
Take 2 capsules of adrenal enzyme formula twice a day either between meals or with meals. The formula should contain the following:

Eggs False - that the eggs we eat is converted directly to blood cholesterol.
Many studies have shown that the intake of eggs makes no difference to our cholesterol levels.
Dietary cholesterol reduces the body’s production of cholesterol. More than 80% of the cholesterol in your blood is produced in your liver.
There is ‘strong evidence to show that the effects of cholesterol rich foods on blood cholesterol are small and clinically insignificant.’
The strong message that eggs are bad for us originated in the US in the 1970s. ‘Scores of studies have confirmed the value of eggs, which are quite possibly the world’s most perfect food; the yolk is the most nutritious part.’
A study in 2013 from researchers at the University of Connecticut showed people on a low-carb diet, eating whole eggs, even on a daily bases, improved insulin sensitivity and other cardiovascular risk parameters.
The whole egg contains all the essential amino acids we need to survive, vitamins and minerals, and antioxidants known ‘to protect the eyes’. They contain ample choline which is very important for aiding helping healthy brain function as well as pregnancy.
Anthony William has a different perspective on eggs. He tells us that eggs feed viruses, especially the Epstein Bar Virus, which many of us have dormant in our body. He recommends to avoid eggs for this reason. Epstein Bar Virus causes many different symptoms of many different illness in our body.

An imbalance of iron in our blood causes our body to have unpleasant symptoms.
Not enough iron can cause exhaustion, breathlessness and weak or tired arms, palpitations and much more. Read on for more detail:
Researchers doctors have found in recent years that Inflammation is the main cause of much ill health. The food we eat and the stress we have in our lives all makes us vulnerable. If you have ever cut your finger or hit your knee or broken your skin, you know the redness that accompanies healing. Any sort of illness, whether it is major, like diabetes, cancer, chronic fatigue, fibromyalgia, arthritis or an inflamed gallbladder giving you pain, is all about inflammation.
Doctors can recommend pain killers for the pain that goes with inflammation, but let's face it, too many painkillers and be killers. Thousands of people die each year in the US alone just because they have taken too many painkillers.
Researchers have been working on other ways to stop inflammation.
When we cook, we often give extra flavor to our food with spices. Spices are known to contain lots of antioxidants. These antioxidants kill off free radicals, the little blighters that oxidize fats in our body. When the fats, or lipids as they are also called, are oxidized they cause havoc in our body, creating inflammation.
Some clever researchers decided to test some common spices, using them at the rate we would use them in our cooking.
Watch this short, perky video to find out which spices will help you the most.
By using these spices every day, you could save lots of money on expensive medication for inflammation.

It is important to clean hands if we have poor health, for whatever reason. Hands are used for everything, from washing, to dressing, to eating, to working. Along the way, they collect germs from all sorts of places.
When we are unwell, whether we have a cold or cancer or Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (CFS), we have more germs on our hands. We pick up the germs of others through handshakes, taps in wash basins or handrails on an elevator.
In Hong Kong, there were ladies whose job it was to clean the handrails at railway stations to try to stop cross contamination so that people would not get ill. Cutting down on germs is important to staying healthy.
When we are very ill and in bed, we are not continually washing our hands. It is enough to get to the bathroom occasionally. A quick rinse under the tap and quickly back to bed. Germs build up on our hands.
Generally speaking, I find women better at keeping their hands clean. They wash their hands when doing the washing up. Women may give their hands a good wash in the bathroom. They also spend some time in the laundry doing the washing. There is always a job needing to be done with water.
Men on the other hand, tend not to do these mundane chores and are not as aware of keeping their hands clean. Men should always give their hands a good wash after going to the toilet, a proper wash.
Washing the Hair
When we wash our hair, our hands get a good clean. However many people do not wash their hair every day. Also many men do not have hair to wash. So it is very important to wash your hands every day. If you do it in the shower you can give a good scrub all the way up the forearm as well. Keep those germs at bay.
Men tend to shake hands, a good way to pass on some germs. Women tend not to shake hands so much.
In a hospital where their premature babies were cared for the babies kept getting infections. It was traced down to the nurses having long fingernails. All sorts of bugs, grease and dirt can congregate under long nails. So give your nails a trim and then a good wash.
As people age, they tend to be less active. They also tend not to do the amount of washing up or cleaning of younger years. When they sit around their hands collect body oils and food scraps which can store quite happily under their fingernails. They also tend not to wash their hands so often. Please help the elderly to keep their hands clean. It is good for their health.
Please wash your hands properly and frequently.
Need more energy? Who doesn't! People who are ill need more energy. They just do not have enough energy to do the normal things in life. People needing more energy may have some of these illnesses
Every cell in our body has a job to do. They have to make energy to keep the body going. There are little furnaces within the cells called 'mitochondria'. The mitochondria need fuel to make energy. Without enough energy our body slows and starts to break down.
Co enzyme Q 10 (CoQ10) and D-ribose are the two ingredients that are essential for the mitochondria to make energy. If your supply of these is low, you will have low energy.
CoQ10 is needed in greater quantities in the heart. If you take statin drugs to reduce cholesterol, then you definitely need to supplement with CoQ10 as these drain CoQ10 from the cells.
Dose: 200-400mg CoQ10 daily.
D-ribose comes in the form of a white powder. It is only in recent years that scientists found how to make it. It is very safe to take.
Dose: 1 tsp powder 1-3 times daily
If you have CFS/ME and are very fatigued, take 3 doses daily for a 2-4 weeks. Cut back as you see fit.
These 2 natural supplements taken long term will give your mitochondria the fuel they need to make the energy your body needs.

Symptoms of Adrenal Fatigue
Many people today find they are worn out and exhausted all the time in their busy lifestyles. Their body and mind is always in the 'fight or flight' mode. This means we are forever on the alert waiting for the next thing to happen. As a result, we find we cannot relax. If we cannot relax, we cannot sleep; either it is difficult to get to sleep or we wake during the night and stay awake for a few hours. Many people with Adrenal fatigue wake between 2 and 4am.
The result of this is that we get more and more tired and then we get more and more 'wired up', in a higher and higher state of alertness which causes even more tiredness. This can result in the adrenal glands being unable to produce enough cortisol to keep this state going.
As a result we start to become more and more tired. Some people are so tired and worn out that they can no longer work or do their normal day's activities. The worst of these are bed-bound.
Western doctors test the adrenals with a 24 hour urine test. The urine must be collected for the whole day, all put in together and then tested. This gives an overall result for 24 hours. Adrenal hormones change through the day. The highest secretion should be in the morning. This gives us the 'get up and go' feeling in the morning. People with Adrenal Fatigue often have low hormone secretion in the mornings and high levels in the evenings. This means that they cannot get going in the morning and are rearing and ready to go at night. This might suit shift workers, but not the rest of the population.
Naturopathic doctors tend to test the adrenals with a saliva test. The saliva is tested at different times of the day so that they can see what your adrenals are doing throughout the 24 hours. This gives a better picture.
Our adrenal glands sit on top of our kidneys and are connected to them. We have two kidneys and two adrenal glands. The adrenal glands are closely connected to the thyroid gland. So if you have a problem with your thyroid gland you may have a problem with your adrenal glands as well.
Norepinephrine is secreted by the adrenal glands and the brain in response to stress. Too much of this results in problems focusing, increased anxiety and an inability to tune out distractions. Other major hormones produces are cortisol, epinephrine and adrenalin. These all need to be in balance, along with the thyroid gland for a balanced life.

Adrenal Fatigue and Chronic Fatigue Syndrome
Chronic Fatigue can be a debilitating illness. The problem is the medical profession for years did not even believe it was an illness because they could not prove the patient had anything wrong with them from their tests. This put the onus back on the patient to find some relief for themselves. They turned to the Alternative health professionals who would at least listen to them. Read more...
Personally I am not in favor of being diagnosed by someone with the label of an illness.
In our society today, it has become the norm for people to be diagnosed or labelled with the name of an illness. I have found that with many people, this sits like a weight on their shoulders, weighing them down heavily. There are few people that, when diagnosed with a major illness, have the strength of mind, followed by body, to go search out a therapy that can ease their symptoms, sometimes even get rid of their illness altogether.
Many doctors, I could say most doctors, look at the statistics of illnesses and know the usual progression of the disease. This is then placed on the patient's shoulders and installed into their mind. They 'think' there is no solution.
Most doctors do not have the time to research new techniques that are found since their years of studying medicine. They rely majorly on what they learned in medical school and the seminars given by doctors, to update them with medical solutions.
Medical solutions towards disease lean strongly towards drug therapy or surgery.
It is quick and easy for the doctor to write a script and quick and easy for the patient to take the pill. Sometimes this can be a lifesaver for many people and can get them out of a dangerous health crisis. Unfortunately, many drugs have unpleasant side effects.
A Passion for Good Health
It also takes passion for a doctor or a patient to probe and learn to find other methods that can be a good and sometimes better, and have no side effects, than relying on the medicine chest.
A disease diagnosis is a name given to a list of symptoms. There is a list of symptoms for Multiple Sclerosis, Alzheimer's disease, irritable bowel syndrome, diabetes and autism etc.
The symptoms of these diseases overlap. Many illnesses can have brain fog, anxiety, sore throat, palpitations, difficulty breathing. A label accumulates these symptoms. Once a label is applied to an illness, the person is sent to a doctor dealing in that group of symptoms. It takes a brave doctor to look for a solution outside what is being recommended by his colleagues.
Very, very slowly, people - the patients - are starting to look for other answers as they do not like the outcome that has been given to them eg 'you will not improve anymore' or the side effects of the drugs given to them.
One such modality that has now been recognized by The American Academy of Pediatrics is Neurofeedback. It is a form of brain training. Good results have been documented with ADD, ADHD, epilepsy, anxiety and traumatic brain injuries. They recognize it is as effective as medications for ADD/ADHD and rarely has adverse side effects.
Other modalities that treat many symptoms for varying diseases are
Light Therapy, Sound Therapy, Crystal Therapy, Homeopathy and Flower Essence Therapy.
If you look around you will find many people being treated with different modalities by mainstream doctors and by Complementary therapists. Don't be stuck with a label. Free yourself. Lift that weight by trying different therapies. Find the one that is right for you, one that eases your symptoms.
There is always an answer out there.
Go find it!
Co-enzyme Q10 (CoQ10) is found in our cells. It is the fuel we need to make energy. Without enough CoQ10 we get tired and exhausted.
Our energy is made in the mitochondria, little centres in our cells that are busily making energy for our body to keep going.
People with CFS have very low energy. Studies have been conducted about the effects of CoQ10 in people with different illnesses.
Fibromyalgia (FM) is similar to CFS. CFS is also called ME/CFS or CFIDS depending on which country you are in. The latest name used for this illness is Systemic Exertion Intolerance Disease or SEID. People with one of these illnesses may also be diagnosed with the other or the doctor cannot make up his mind which illness it is.
The study found benefits when the people with FM took supplements of CoQ10. There was a significant reduction of symptoms.
It was found that taking black pepper along with the CoQ10 increased the absorption rate of CoQ10.
Levels supplemented in this study were 300mg CoQ10 daily. This was found to be safe and suitable supplement for many patients.
In the study it was found that CoQ10 also eased migraines in some people. They took it at the rate of 200-300mg daily. It needed to be taken for 3 months before benefits were noticed.
If you are deficient in CoQ10, reserves have to be built up. The mitochondria in the cells need the fuel to make energy. When the cells are firing correctly, other areas in your body will start to come into balance.
CoQ10 and Aging
Older people have less energy than younger people. It has been found that as they age, people have less CoQ10 in their body. It is a good idea for older people to supplement with CoQ10 to keep their energy going.
