neurofeedbackNeurofeedback for ADD, ADHD, epilepsy, anxiety and traumatic brain injury
Neurofeedback is a sophisticated biofeedback and is very versatile for many illnesses. The American Academy of Pediatrics have recognised it as effective as medications for ADD and ADHD. It rarely has side effects. It is a form of brain training. It has also been approved for some kinds of epilepsy and helps with anxiety, post traumatic stress conditions, learning disorders, brain injuries, migraines and autistic sensitivities. When neurons fire by the millions, they create brain waves which are measurable. Calm focused waves are Beta waves. Sleeping waves are Theta waves. At NASA, the astronauts were getting epilepsy from exposure to the rocket fuel. NASA found increased awareness that can lead to neural changes and neurodifferentiation. Barry Sherman found that we could train ourselves to prevent epilepsy. Neurofeedback is like Feldenkrais. Fisher Wallace Stimulator comes from Russian technology. It is about to be approved by the FDA for insomnia, depression and anxiety. It is used in Russia instead of sleeping pills. They induce sleep using a frequency 5-25 Hz. ![]() Adrenal exhaustion A lot of fatigue is connected to poor adrenal function. The adrenal glands sit above the kidneys and are part of the endocrine system. They produce several hormones to do with the stress response. The adrenal gland consists of the cortex and the medulla. The cortex is the outer part and produces cortisol, a powerful anti inflammatory hormone. Inflammation occurs in many health problems eg allergies, asthma, arthritis and lupus. The medulla is the centre part of the adrenal gland. It puts out adrenaline, (which is also called epinephrine), and norepinephrine. These hormones are almost a direct extension of the nervous system. They govern the body’s stress response, also known as the fight-or-flight response. When the brain thinks there is a threat (stress),the adrenal glands prepare to either fight or flee. The nervous system stimulates the circulatory and respiratory systems to be ready. This diverts oxygen and blood away from normal bodily functions and accesses the body’s energy reserves. When this system switches off, the body stays on alert for a long while afterwards. This exhausts the energy supplies and wears down the adrenal glands and kidneys, impairing immune function. The body reacts to real and imaginary stressors. These can be emotional or psychological and can be caused by stress. This can be overuse of caffeine, alcohol, nicotine, drugs, poor nutrition or deficiencies of vitamins. ‘A person with weak or impaired adrenal function may have low blood pressure, low blood sugar, low body temperature and a feeling of complete exhaustion.’ Other health problems creep in such as hypoglycaemia and neuro-mediated hypotension (NMA). With NMA, the central nervous system instructs the heart to slow down, causing decline in total volume of blood circulating per minute, and in blood pressure. This allows the blood to pool in the lower limbs and less is available to nourish the brain. Other symptoms of poor adrenal function are depression, dizziness or lightheadedness and memory lapse. Dr Ellen’s prescription to heal the adrenal glands Digestive enzymes aid digestion and assimilation of nutrients. Supplements cannot work unless the body is able to use them. Digestion and absorption are the keys to the effectiveness of supplements, and enzymes are the key to thorough digestion and absorption. Take 2 capsules of adrenal enzyme formula twice a day either between meals or with meals. The formula should contain the following:

Contraindications is a medical term for situation in which an intervention should NOT be used, or its use should be altered, such as for people who have significant or life threatening reactions; people who have abnormal immune systems or certain infections; or for those who have had adverse reactions before, among the situations. The general medical consensus is that vaccines are sometimes harmful for some individuals, and some have been taken off the market for this reason. The key question for autism is might some potentially autistic children qualify for precautions or contraindications and have these children specifically been studied?’ Dr David Amaral, director of research at the University of California, Davis, MIND Institute, one of the world’s leading research institutes on autism and inflammation, said of children at risk of autism in a recent PBS special, ‘Vaccination for these children actually may be the environmental factor that tips them over the edge of autism.’ He thinks it is important to find out why some children are ‘at risk for having certain vaccinations’. Vaccinomics Vaccinomics is a new science ‘which aims to develop personalised vaccines tailored to a person’s genetic profile and individual medical history.’ This ‘acknowledges that our current one size fits all approach to vaccines is less than optimal, and that for some people, current vaccines may be ineffective, and for other people may be harmful’. People taking cholesterol lowering drugs, statins, can become more depressed. Studies in the last ten years show a connection between total low cholesterol and depression and impulsive behaviour including suicide and violence. Study after study shows a connection between low cholesterol and depression. People with suicidal tendencies have been associated with ‘low serum cholesterol’. This is cholesterol levels of less than 160. These are 200 times more likely to attempt suicide. This also shows a connection to bipolar. Those with bipolar are much more likely to attempt suicide if they have low cholesterol. There is a connection between Parkinson’s and a propensity to engage in violent behaviour. Gluten is what Perlmutter calls a ‘silent germ’. It can inflict lasting damage without you knowing it. Food is a powerful epigenetic modulator, it can change our DNA for better or worse. It regulates the expression of many of our genes. Modern medicine has an illness-centred approach, not a wellness approach. In a recent report in ‘Archives of Internal Medicine’ it showed post-menopausal women who were put on statin drugs to lower cholesterol had nearly 48% increased risk of developing diabetes, compared to those not given the drug. Another new study shows babies born to women with gluten sensitivity have an increased risk of developing schizophrenia and other psychiatric disorders. An extremely low carbohydrate diet of no more than 60 gr carbs a day, is ideal (this is the serving in a piece of fruit), and high fat is ideal. Look up ‘the gluten police’ on Dr Perlmutter’s site www.DrPermutter.com Science tells us that many of our brain-related illnesses, from depression to dementia, are closely related to our nutritional and lifestyle choices. The Diabetes, Alzheimer’s and obesity connection is a well-documented for brain disease. Many studies have shown that the intake of eggs makes no difference to our cholesterol levels. Dietary cholesterol reduces the body’s production of cholesterol. More than 80% of the cholesterol in your blood is produced in your liver. There is ‘strong evidence to show that the effects of cholesterol rich foods on blood cholesterol are small and clinically insignificant.’ The strong message that eggs are bad for us originated in the US in the 1970s. ‘Scores of studies have confirmed the value of eggs, which are quite possibly the world’s most perfect food; the yolk is the most nutritious part.’ A study in 2013 from researchers at the University of Connecticut showed people on a low-carb diet, eating whole eggs, even on a daily bases, improved insulin sensitivity and other cardiovascular risk parameters. The whole egg contains all the essential amino acids we need to survive, vitamins and minerals, and antioxidants known ‘to protect the eyes’. They contain ample choline which is very important for aiding helping healthy brain function as well as pregnancy. Anthony William has a different perspective on eggs. He tells us that eggs feed viruses, especially the Epstein Bar Virus, which many of us have dormant in our body. He recommends to avoid eggs for this reason. Epstein Bar Virus causes many different symptoms of many different illness in our body.
